Photo cards can be one way to keep in touch with family and friends throughout the year. If you're getting ready create your own photo cards, one of the key elements you'll need to get right is the photograph itself. Here are some tips so you can put the best photo forward on your next photo cards.

There are a few ways you can snag those shots for photo cards. A digital camera is the most convenient way.
If you don't have a digital camera, but still want to create photo cards, you can still do so. Take pictures with a regular camera and scan the prints (scanners are available for rental at major office copy centers) or take an existing photo and scan the file.
Find out what file type you need. Most online printers accept a range of file formats, but they typically include jpeg, pdf, gif, pic, and png file types. Make sure you save the file in the appropriate format before you send it to the printer.
Check to see what the maximum file size requirements are. The original file you snap with a digital camera may be too large to upload to the printer. File sizes vary, but VistaPrint recommends file sizes for holiday cards be under 14 mb.
